Munir Bashir (منير
بشير ) - was one of the most
famous musicians in the Middle East
during the 20th. century
and was considered to be the supreme master of the Arab
maqamat scale system.
This unique video recording was made at Bissan Film Studio
in 1995 in Amman, Jordan.; directed by Mustafa
Abu Ali (مصطفى أبو علي).

"Rachel Corrie: An American Conscience"

A powerful documentary by
Yahia Barakat
Rachel Corrie (1979-2003) was an American from Washington State
who was a member of the International Solidarity Movement. She was
killed by a Caterpillar D-9 bulldozer driven by an Israeli soldier,
in Rafah, Gaza Strip in March 2003 while trying to prevent the
demolition of a Palestinian home.
The film includes interview footage of Ms Corrie as well as
interviews with other activists, American diplomat Edward Peck,
actor Richard Gere and footage from from Gaza, the West Bank and
Olympia, Washington. . Yahia Barakat is a professor in the Mass
Media and TV Department at Al-Quds University in Jerusalem.
Duration is 75 minutes - Available in English with Arabic
subtitles.
A play entitled My Name is Rachel Corrie,
based on Rachel Corrie's diaries and emails and edited by Katherine
Viner and Alan Rickman was staged initially in London UK. Subsequent
performances in the United States and Canada have been
controversially cancelled or postponed.
